At S2G, we don’t view impact as separate from performance, but as integral to building resilient companies positioned to create long-term value. At a time when climate risks and supply chain pressures are intensifying, we believe that companies that build strong operational foundations and deliver measurable outcomes are simply better positioned for growth. This is why we are proud to announce our inclusion in the ImpactAssets 50 (IA 50) 2026.

Now in its 15th year, the IA 50 serves as a database of firms that demonstrate a deep commitment to measurable social and environmental impact, demonstrated financial oversight, and significant investment scale. For S2G, being included in this curated guide reaffirms our belief that the most resilient companies are those that deliver value to both shareholders and the planet.

The 2026 IA 50 reflects a dramatically expanded and increasingly institutionalized marketplace, with fund managers collectively deploying nearly $17 billion toward impact in the past year alone. Across the database, managers represent more than $202 billion in combined assets. Notably, 32 firms now report AUM exceeding $1 billion, up from 24 last year and 18 in 2024. This growth signals increasing recognition that sustainability and operational quality are fundamentally linked.

Institutional Rigor: Our IMM Framework

To achieve our mission, we integrate our Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) practice throughout the investment lifecycle. Our approach is grounded in S2G’s Theory of Change, which outlines how our capital and operational engagement can help scale solutions to critical challenges across food & agriculture, energy, and ocean systems. This framework reflects our belief that addressing these complex system-level challenges requires investing in companies capable of delivering both strong financial performance and measurable impact outcomes.

We view IMM not as a reporting exercise, but rather as a strategic discipline that informs how we evaluate opportunities and support portfolio companies. Our annual impact survey helps track outcomes, monitor operational progress, identify emerging risks, and assess value creation across the portfolio over time.

Our framework is built on institutional-grade standards:

  • Strategic Alignment: Investments are mapped to S2G’s North Stars,” shared impact goals that translate our Theory of Change into practical investment objectives. To measure progress, we assign metrics from the S2G Metric Library, a standardized set of indicators aligned with global measurement frameworks such as IRIS+.

  • Risk Mitigation: Alongside evaluating positive impact potential, we review unintended or negative impacts during underwriting. We draw on frameworks such as SASB to identify financially material sustainability risks, and use tools such as our Risk Register to analyze execution, regulatory, and environmental factors that could affect both impact and financial outcomes.

  • BlueMark Validation: S2G received Platinum recognition from the BlueMark Fund ID assessment, BlueMark’s highest designation, following an independent evaluation that verified our impact management systems align with industry best practices.

An Evolving Space

The continued growth of the IA 50 highlights how quickly this segment of private markets has matured. What began fifteen years ago as a niche corner of the investment landscape has evolved into a diverse and institutional ecosystem spanning a range of asset classes, sectors, and geographies.

At S2G, we expect this evolution to continue as capital increasingly flows toward companies that improve the productivity and resilience of essential systems. Businesses that address structural inefficiencies in food production, energy infrastructure, and ocean industries are positioned to create both durable enterprise value and system-wide benefits.

Our focus remains on identifying those companies early, supporting their growth with fit-for-purpose capital, and strengthening the measurement practices that help investors understand the full scope of their impact and financial performance.
